Background of the Study
The implementation of information technology (IT) systems in corporate organizations requires effective project management methodologies to ensure success. IT project management methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, and Scrum offer frameworks to guide the planning, execution, and monitoring of IT projects, which are critical for ensuring that these systems are deployed on time, within budget, and meet the intended goals (Ojo & Yisa, 2023). In Bauchi State, many corporate organizations are adopting IT solutions to improve operational efficiency, streamline processes, and remain competitive.
Despite the widespread use of various IT project management methodologies, challenges persist in the successful implementation of IT systems. These include issues such as scope creep, inadequate stakeholder involvement, and resistance to change. This study aims to explore the role of IT project management methodologies in the successful implementation of IT systems in corporate organizations in Bauchi State, focusing on how these methodologies contribute to achieving project objectives.
Statement of the Problem
While many corporate organizations in Bauchi State are investing in IT systems, the success rate of their implementation remains uncertain. Many organizations fail to meet deadlines or exceed budgets due to poor project management practices, lack of appropriate methodology, or inadequate resource allocation. This study will investigate the role of IT project management methodologies in ensuring successful system implementation and identify the factors that contribute to successful or failed projects.
